What Is Botox for Excessive Sweating? What Austin Patients Should Know First

Botox for sweating works differently from Botox for lines. Instead of relaxing a muscle, it blocks the signal that tells your sweat glands to switch on in the area treated.

It is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating. Nurses also treat palms, soles, the face and the scalp, though those areas are used off-label.

The dose is much larger than a cosmetic treatment. Underarms typically take around 50 units per side, so roughly 100 units for the pair. At $12 per unit that is about $1,200 for both underarms.

Relief is not instant. Most patients notice a change within a few days to two weeks, and it commonly lasts around four to six months, longer than a cosmetic result. How long varies from person to person.

YOUR CARE TEAM

Meet Your Austin Hyperhidrosis Injector

Your treatment is placed by Genniel, RN, a Clinical Aesthetic Nurse Injector at our East 6th Street clinic. She treats Austin patients through the week.

Hyperhidrosis treatment is a mapping job. The injections are placed in a grid across the area so coverage is even, which is why the technique matters more than it looks. A physician backs the clinical team.

Aesthetics-trained
100% Nurse-Led

InjectCo is 100% nurse-led. Every hyperhidrosis Botox appointment is handled by a trained nurse with physician oversight, so you are working with someone who understands both the clinical side of the treatment and the Austin community they serve.

TREATMENT AREAS

What Does Hyperhidrosis Botox Treat?

Underarm sweat, the most common area (axillary hyperhidrosis), soaks through shirts even when you are not hot. This is where most patients start. Hands, or sweaty palms (palmar hyperhidrosis), can make handshakes and grip hard, and Botox can help here too. Feet, or sweaty soles (plantar hyperhidrosis), stay damp in shoes; this area is treatable but requires injectors to be more tender. The face and scalp, when sweat runs down your forehead or hairline, can be treated in smaller, careful doses.

Your nurse will confirm which areas are a good fit for you and how many units each one takes.

01

Underarm sweating

The most common reason people come in. Neurotoxin is placed in a grid across each underarm to calm the sweat glands.

02

Sweaty palms

Palms can be treated, though the injections are more uncomfortable than underarms and a numbing plan matters more.

03

Sweaty soles

Feet can be treated on the same principle. Expect a longer and more sensitive appointment.

04

Forehead and scalp sweating

Facial and scalp sweating can be treated, with dosing kept conservative so brow movement is not affected.

05

Sweating that soaks through clothing

If you change shirts during the day or plan outfits around sweat marks, this is the problem the treatment is built for.

06

When antiperspirant has not worked

Most patients have already tried clinical-strength antiperspirant. Not responding to it is a normal reason to be here.

07

How long it lasts

Hyperhidrosis treatment usually holds four to six months, longer than the three to four months typical of cosmetic dosing.

08

What it will not do

It reduces sweating in the area treated. It does not treat the underlying cause, and sweating returns as the effect wears off.
PRODUCT OPTIONS

Botox Brands We Use for Hyperhidrosis

Your nurse matches the product and the dose to your area and your goals.
BOTOX COSMETIC

The most studied option

Botox Cosmetic is the most widely studied botulinum toxin and the benchmark other products are compared against.
DYSPORT

Spreads a little wider

Dysport diffuses slightly more than Botox, which some injectors prefer across broader areas. Units are not interchangeable between products.
XEOMIN

No complexing proteins

Xeomin is filtered to remove the accessory proteins other neurotoxins carry, and is the product behind the InjectCo membership rate.
If you are not sure which option suits your goals, your nurse injector walks you through every choice at your consultation, with no pressure to decide on the spot.

Not Sure How Many Units You Need?

Most Austin patients want a number before they arrive. Unit counts depend on muscle strength and the area treated, which your nurse assesses in person.

GOING FURTHER

Why Treat Sweating Instead of Just Living With It?

Neurotoxin work is often planned across more than one area in a single visit, and sometimes alongside filler when the concern is volume rather than movement. Your nurse assesses which is driving the result you want before recommending anything.

YOUR VISIT

What to Expect at Your Appointment

Aftercare is simple. Avoid heavy workouts and heat for the rest of the day, skip deodorant on treated underarms for about 24 hours, and give it a few days to two weeks to see the full drop in sweating.

2

Treatment

Next, your provider cleans and marks the treatment areas. Underarm treatment is a series of small injections placed in a grid with a fine needle. Your nurse may use ice or perform topical numbing to keep you comfortable, especially for the hands or feet. The visit is usually quick, and most patients resume regular activity immediately after their treatment.

3

Consultation

First, you meet your nurse injector for a one-on-one consultation. You talk through the body areas that sweat most and discuss your medical history and aesthetic goals. Your nurse then maps the treatment zone.

Simple aftercare

  • Stay upright for at least 4 hours
  • Avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours
  • Do not rub or massage the treated areas that day
Our team walks you through every step at your virtual consultation before you set foot in the clinic.

Frequently Asked

Frequently Asked Questions

Pricing starts at $12 per unit. Underarm treatment usually uses about 50 or more units per armpit, so treating both sides is often around 100 units total. At $12 per unit that is roughly $1,200 for the pair, though your exact cost depends on the areas you treat and is set at your consultation. You can estimate your total with our online price tool before you come in.

For many people, yes. One visit can bring months of real relief from heavy sweating, which is why patients who have tried strong antiperspirants without luck often say it changed their daily routine. Whether it is worth it for you depends on how much sweating affects your life, and your nurse can give you an honest read during your consultation.

Some insurance plans cover Botox for severe underarm sweating when other treatments have not worked, but coverage varies a lot by plan. Because rules differ, it is best to check directly with your insurance provider about your specific policy and any documentation they require. InjectCo can give you the treatment details you need, and your provider confirms what your plan will pay.

Underarm treatment commonly uses about 50 or more units per armpit, so roughly 100 units for both sides. The exact number depends on the size of the sweat area and how strongly you sweat. Your nurse maps the area and confirms your unit count during your consultation, so you know the plan before treatment starts.

Most patients get relief for about four to six months, and some get longer. Results build over a few days to two weeks after treatment, not right away. When the effect starts to fade and sweating returns, you simply book another round to stay dry.

Make sure to inform your nurse injector about every medication and supplement you take at your consultation, including blood thinners and anything that affects your muscles or nerves. Your nurse reviews your full health history and gives you personalized guidance, especially since this is a medical decision that ultimately depends on you.

Underarm treatment is a series of small injections, and most patients describe it as quick pinches rather than real pain. For more sensitive areas like the hands or feet, your nurse can use ice or apply a topical numbing cream to keep you comfortable. The whole visit is usually fast, and there is little to no downtime.

Botox is FDA-approved for severe underarm sweating and has a long track record when placed by a licensed, trained injector. At InjectCo MedSpa Austin, every treatment is nurse-led, and your nurse reviews your health history first to make sure you are a good candidate. Your nurse will also explain how any rare side effects are handled, so you know what to expect.

Botox is most commonly used for underarm sweating, but it can also help sweaty hands, sweaty feet, and sweat on the face or scalp. Each area uses a different dose and technique, and some areas are more tender than others. Your nurse will tell you which areas are a good fit for you at your consultation.
