The FDA approves dermal fillers for adults 22 and older, and only for set uses, according to its dermal fillers page. That page lists the forehead, neck and nose as unapproved areas. The FDA’s list of approved dermal fillers also warns that Juvederm Ultra 2, 3 and 4 sold online are not approved in the U.S.

Not normal. If pain grows rather than fades, if treated skin goes white or dusky, if a mottled purple patch appears, or if your sight changes, filler may be pressing on a blood vessel. This is rare and needs care right away.

Neither brand is better everywhere. Both are FDA-approved hyaluronic acid fillers that can be dissolved; they differ in gel feel and in the areas each product is approved for. Genniel chooses the brand and gel that suit each area, and some plans use both.

Yes. Juvederm is hyaluronic acid, so an enzyme called hyaluronidase breaks it down if you dislike the result or a complication needs treating. Our Austin clinic keeps hyaluronidase on hand. Radiesse and Sculptra cannot be dissolved this way.
Voluma XC is the firm Juvederm gel. The FDA approves it for adding volume to the cheeks and for improving chin projection in adults. It sits on the bone to lift, which is why it is not used for lips; softer gels such as Volbella XC or Ultra XC do that job.

Most patients describe pressure and brief pinches. Numbing cream goes on first, and Juvederm XC gels contain lidocaine, so the area numbs further as the gel goes in. Any tenderness usually fades in a few days.
Swelling and redness are common, along with tenderness, bruising or small lumps; most settle within a few days to 2 weeks. Rarely, filler blocks a blood vessel, which can harm the skin and, very rarely, eyesight. Genniel treats that at once, usually by dissolving the gel.
That depends on how many areas you want treated and how much volume each one needs, so no number is promised before Genniel sees you. She sets the count with you at the free consultation; many first plans start with fewer syringes and add more at the 2-week review.

Every Juvederm gel is approved for specific areas only. If your plan uses a gel outside its label, Genniel explains that before treatment. The FDA lists approved uses and risks on its dermal fillers page.
Because Juvederm is hyaluronic acid, an unwanted result or a blocked vessel can usually be treated by dissolving it, sometimes over more than one visit. Hyaluronidase is kept at our Austin clinic.
Juvederm can, rarely, enter or block a blood vessel, which can damage skin and, very rarely, cause vision loss or stroke. This needs treatment at once, usually by dissolving the gel. Infection and delayed lumps can also happen.
