A lip flip is a quick injection of a wrinkle relaxer, Botox at our clinic, into the orbicularis oris, the ring of muscle around your mouth. A few units along the upper border soften the pull that curls the lip inward, so it rests and smiles slightly turned out. The lip looks a little fuller in profile even though nothing has been added under the skin. The BOTOX Cosmetic label from the FDA lists 4 approved areas (frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and neck bands), so using it in the lip is off-label, which Genniel explains before you decide.
The mouth is almost never still, and the dose is deliberately small, so the effect wears off faster than Botox between the brows. A 2025 systematic review in Archives of Dermatological Research reported common lip flip doses of about 4 to 6 units, with side effects that were mostly mild and short-lived.
We start with your smile, not a syringe. Genniel asks you to chat and then laugh while she watches the upper lip. She is looking for how far it rolls under, whether gum shows above the teeth, and whether one side lifts more than the other.
Your dose is set for your lip. There is no unit minimum at InjectCo. First-timers usually get a conservative amount, because an over-relaxed lip can make sipping from a straw or saying certain sounds feel strange for a while.

BOTOX Cosmetic (onabotulinumtoxinA) is a prescription medicine. It is FDA-approved to temporarily improve frown lines, forehead lines, crow’s feet and platysma bands in adults. Its use in the lip for a lip flip is off-label.
Boxed warning, distant spread of toxin effect: the effect of botulinum toxin may spread to other areas of the body hours to weeks after injection and cause swallowing, speech or breathing difficulties, which can be life threatening. Seek medical help right away if these occur.
Do not receive Botox if you are allergic to any botulinum toxin product or have an infection at the planned injection site. Tell Genniel about nerve or muscle disorders, any botulinum toxin injection in the last four months, and medicines such as certain antibiotics, muscle relaxants and blood thinners. Units are not interchangeable between toxin brands.
