A flat $199. It is the smallest thing we do to the lip, and for some patients it is the only thing needed.
A lip flip uses about four to six units of a neurotoxin along the upper lip. Relaxing that muscle lets the lip roll slightly outward, so more of the pink shows when you smile.
It adds no volume at all. Nothing is filled. If your lips are thin and you want them fuller, a lip flip will disappoint you and filler is the honest answer.
Where it works well is a lip that disappears when you smile, or a gummy smile where the upper lip lifts too far.
Two practical points. It lasts about two to three months, noticeably shorter than filler, because it is a small dose in a mobile muscle. And using a neurotoxin on the lip in this way is an off-label use, which is common in aesthetics but you should know it.
Dosing matters more than it sounds. Too few units does nothing. Too many makes it awkward to purse your lips, whistle or drink through a straw, which is why we keep it conservative.

We are directly across East 6th from UT Elementary Charter School, about a third of a mile from the H-E-B at 2701 East 7th Street, and roughly two-thirds of a mile east of the Plaza Saltillo MetroRail station. I-35 is about a mile west, and East Cesar Chavez Street is a few blocks south.

No, a lip flip and lip filler are different. A lip flip uses a wrinkle relaxer, about 4 to 6 units of Botox, to relax the top-lip muscle so your lip rolls up and shows a little more, but adds no volume. Lip filler, on the other hand, is a gel that adds soft fullness and shape. Many patients start with a lip flip and add filler later if they want more volume.
Most lip flips use about 4 to 6 units of Botox. Two units is usually too little for a lasting result, and too many units can make it hard to purse your lips. Your licensed, trained nurse injector measures your smile and lip line first, then chooses the right dose for your face.
A lip flip usually lasts about 2 to 3 months. It tends to fade a little faster than Botox in other areas because the mouth muscle moves so much when you talk and eat. Many patients book a light touch-up a few times a year to maintain optimal results.
A lip flip is quick and most patients feel only a few tiny pinches at the top lip. The dose is so small that numbing is usually not needed, though a topical cream may be applied for maximum comfort. The whole placement takes about 10 to 15 minutes. You can go back to your day right after, though we ask you to not use straws and avoid putting pressure on your lip for 24 hours.
Botox is a wrinkle relaxer that softens the muscles that make expression lines on the upper face, and in a lip flip it relaxes the top-lip muscle so more lip shows. Dermal filler is a gel that adds volume and structure to the mid and lower face, including the lips. Many patients combine them in a single visit in a treatment which is often called a liquid facelift.
A lip flip can help soften a gummy smile for some patients. By relaxing the muscle that lifts the top lip, it can lower how high the lip rises when you smile, so less gum shows. It does not work for every cause of a gummy smile, so your nurse injector checks whether it is the right fit at your one-on-one consultation and will tell you honestly if it is not.
Yes, many patients do both in one visit. The lip flip rolls the upper lip up, and lip filler adds soft volume and shape. Together, they can give a balanced result. Your nurse injector will plan the correct amount of units and syringes so the result looks subtle and natural. There’s no pressure to add filler if a lip flip is all you want.
A lip flip is not right for everyone. If you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or you play a wind instrument or sing professionally, a lip flip may affect how your lips move. Your nurse injector reviews your health history and aesthetic goals at your consultation and will tell you honestly if a lip flip is not a good fit for you.

Treatment at InjectCo MedSpa Austin is performed by licensed registered nurses under physician supervision. A lip flip uses a small dose of botulinum toxin, which is an off-label use.
Known risks include swelling, bruising, tenderness, lumps or firm areas, and asymmetry. Rare but serious risks include vascular occlusion, which can cause tissue damage or vision changes. Tell your provider about all medications, blood thinners and any previous filler.
Results vary between individuals depending on anatomy, the product selected and the amount placed. A lip flip typically lasts six to twelve weeks, shorter than filler, because it relaxes muscle rather than adding volume.
