Filler dissolving uses hyaluronidase, an enzyme that breaks down hyaluronic acid. It works on HA fillers such as Juvederm, Restylane and Belotero.
It does not work on everything. Radiesse, Sculptra, Bellafill and fat transfer are not hyaluronic acid, so hyaluronidase will not touch them. If you are not certain what you had placed, bring whatever paperwork you have.
The enzyme starts working quickly, often within a day or two, though your nurse may stage it across more than one session rather than dissolving everything at once. Staging gives more control over the final result.
Worth knowing: hyaluronic acid filler does break down on its own over roughly 6 to 18 months. Dissolving is for when you do not want to wait, or when placement rather than volume is the problem.
Your dissolving is done by Genniel, RN, a Clinical Aesthetic Nurse Injector at our East 6th Street clinic. She treats Austin patients through the week.
Dissolving well is a different skill from placing filler. Too much enzyme removes more than you wanted, including some of your own hyaluronic acid. Genniel works conservatively and will often stage it. A physician backs the clinical team.

We are directly across East 6th from UT Elementary Charter School, about a third of a mile from the H-E-B at 2701 East 7th Street, and roughly two-thirds of a mile east of the Plaza Saltillo MetroRail station. I-35 is about a mile west, and East Cesar Chavez Street is a few blocks south.

It does not work on non-HA products like Radiesse, Sculptra, or Bellafill, or on your own fat. Your nurse confirms what filler you have before treating.
Filler dissolving is priced per session, and your total cost depends on how much filler you have and whether you need one session or more. It is quoted at your consultation once your nurse looks at the area, and you get the full price in writing before anything begins.
Hyaluronic acid lip filler does slowly break down over 6 to 18 months on its own. If you want it gone sooner, or if it has migrated or looks lumpy, hyaluronidase can dissolve it in a single visit, so you can get unwanted filler dissolved immediately instead of waiting.
Yes, when it is done by a trained injector. Hyaluronidase has been used for years to correct HA filler. At InjectCo MedSpa Austin, it is placed by a licensed nurse injector under physician oversight, and we check for any allergies before treating. Choosing an experienced, credentialed injector is the biggest safety factor.
Hyaluronidase starts breaking down HA filler within a day or two. Minor swelling from the treatment itself settles on its own over a few days, and you will see the reset as the product clears. For some patients, one session is enough. For others, a second session is needed for a full dissolve. Your nurse recommends a suitable treatment plan.
Botox relaxes the muscles that make expression lines on the upper face, like forehead lines and crow's feet. Dermal filler adds volume and structure on the mid and lower face, like the cheeks, chin, and jawline. Many patients combine them in a liquid facelift. Filler dissolving is a different treatment altogether, as it removes unwanted HA filler rather than adding or relaxing anything.
Yes. Many patients dissolve old or migrated filler, let the area settle, then rebuild with a fresh, conservative dermal filler plan. Your nurse will tell you how long to wait before new filler is placed, which is usually a couple of weeks, so the area is ready before treatment.
For most patients, no. HA filler is temporary, and dissolving simply allows the area to look like how it looked before. Some patients worry about loose skin, but the skin usually settles back on its own over time. If you have concerns, your nurse injector will look at your specific situation and give you an honest answer.

Treatment at InjectCo MedSpa Austin is performed by licensed registered nurses under physician supervision. Hyaluronidase is used to dissolve hyaluronic acid filler. This is an off-label use.
Tell your provider about all medications and supplements, any autoimmune condition, and any previous reaction to an injectable. Treatment is not performed during pregnancy or breastfeeding, or over active infection in the treatment area.
Results vary between individuals depending on anatomy, product selected and dose. Only hyaluronic acid fillers can be dissolved. Sculptra and Radiesse are not reversible.
