Dermal fillers are gels injected under the skin to restore lost volume or add structure where there was little to begin with. Most are made from hyaluronic acid, a sugar your body already produces. Results are visible the same day and typically last six to eighteen months depending on the product and the area treated. Filler restores volume; Botox relaxes muscle movement, and the two are not interchangeable.

Getting that distinction backwards is the most common reason a treatment goes exactly as planned and still does not feel like it worked.

Why some fillers last longer than others. Hyaluronic acid on its own breaks down in the body within days, so filler gels are cross-linked, meaning the HA chains are chemically bonded to each other. The more tightly a gel is cross-linked, the firmer it is and the longer the body takes to break it down, which is why a structural product holds a jawline while a softer, less cross-linked gel moves naturally in a lip. Area matters too: a part of the face that moves constantly clears filler faster than one that does not.

What physician oversight means here. Under Texas law, injecting a substance for cosmetic purposes is the practice of medicine. A physician may delegate it to a properly trained practitioner working under written orders and supervision, with the delegating physician available for emergency consultation. That framework is set out in 22 Texas Administrative Code §169.25, the Texas Medical Board delegation rule in effect since January 2025. It is why a filler appointment here is a medical appointment, not a salon service.

Getting here. Coming off the Dallas North Tollway, exit Parker Road and head east. The center shares its lot with Tom Thumb at 5968 W Parker Rd, which is the easiest landmark to aim for the first time. Parking is free and on site. This is West Plano, and most patients come from the neighborhoods around it: Willow Bend and Gleneagles a few minutes south, Deerfield and the Legacy West corridor north of Parker Road, and Prestonwood and Shoal Creek to the west. Dermal filler treatments at InjectCo Plano are performed by licensed registered nurses under physician oversight, using FDA-approved products. Dermal fillers are prescription medical devices. Individual results vary based on your anatomy, the product selected, and the amount used.

Hyaluronic acid fillers such as Juvederm and Restylane can be dissolved with hyaluronidase if you want them adjusted or removed. Collagen stimulators such as Sculptra and Radiesse work differently and are not reversible in the same way.

Who should not have filler. Treatment is not appropriate during pregnancy or breastfeeding, where there is an active skin infection in the treatment area, or where you have a known hypersensitivity to the product or to lidocaine. Tell your injector if you take blood thinners or anticoagulants, as these raise the risk of bruising, and disclose any previous filler, autoimmune condition, or history of cold sores before treatment.

Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness, and small firm areas that usually settle within two weeks.

Rare but serious risks. The most serious complication of any dermal filler is vascular occlusion, where product enters or compresses a blood vessel and restricts blood supply. It is rare, and it is the reason placement by a clinician trained in facial vascular anatomy matters. Contact the clinic immediately, or seek emergency care, if you notice any of the following after treatment: severe or increasing pain out of proportion to the procedure, skin that turns white, dusky, grey or mottled, a lace-like purple pattern on the skin, sudden vision changes or vision loss, or pain around the eye. These are time-critical. Hyaluronidase, the enzyme that dissolves hyaluronic acid filler, is kept on site, so early contact matters.
