East Cesar Chavez is about four minutes away, downtown about ten, Cherrywood eleven, Travis Heights twelve and Mueller thirteen. No. A day spa offers relaxation services such as massage and facials that anyone can perform. A medical spa, also written med spa or medspa, offers prescription treatments. Those include wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers, laser and medical weight loss. In Texas they must be performed by, or delegated to, licensed clinicians under a physician’s supervision, which the Texas Medical Board regulates. Yes. The Austin medical weight loss program is run out of the same East 6th Street room, using prescription GLP-1 medications with a nurse screening, labs and physician oversight. Compounded medications are not FDA-approved, and results depend on the individual.
However, not everyone is a candidate. A body mass index threshold and your health history decide eligibility. Your nurse will assess this at your screening and tell you plainly whether the program is right for you.
Ask four things. Who performs the injection, and what is their license? Who is the supervising physician? Are prices published before you book? Do you get an assessment before treatment, with the option to say no?

Most effects are short-lived. After injectables you can expect bruising, swelling, tenderness and small bumps at the site, usually gone within a few days to two weeks. Wrinkle relaxers can occasionally cause a heavy brow or a temporary eyelid droop, which resolves as the product wears off.
Fillers carry a rare but serious complication called vascular occlusion, where filler blocks a blood vessel. Genniel is trained to recognize it, and hyaluronidase, the filler dissolver, is kept in this room rather than ordered in. The FDA’s guidance on dermal fillers sets out the same risks.
Who we will not treat. We do not treat during pregnancy or breastfeeding. We do not treat over an active skin infection or cold sore, or where there is a known allergy to the product. Blood thinners, bleeding disorders and neuromuscular conditions are asked about at every assessment and may rule a treatment out. If you are not a candidate we tell you at the assessment and you pay nothing. Results vary from person to person.

Different medical-aesthetic treatments carry different risks. A Botox appointment does not have the same risk profile as dermal filler, laser treatment or a prescription weight-loss program.
Neurotoxins. Common temporary effects after a wrinkle-relaxing treatment may include bruising, swelling, headache or uneven movement between the two sides of the face. Product-specific warnings and contraindications are reviewed with you before treatment. The FDA has warned that counterfeit botulinum toxin has reached patients through unlicensed sources. Dermal fillers. Common temporary effects include swelling, bruising, tenderness and asymmetry. A rare but serious complication is unintended injection into a blood vessel, known as vascular occlusion, which can damage tissue and in rare circumstances affect vision.
