Injectables
Botox and dermal fillers are the crux of aesthetic medicine. Widely used and deemed generally safe, neurotoxins like Botox and hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane, Juvederm, and Revanesse are some of the most versatile and powerful anti-aging treatments available.
Botox and similar products harness a toxin known as Botulinum toxin A which is derived from the same toxin that causes botulism. With that said, the toxin is purified and concentrated so that only microscopic amounts of the toxin are actually present in the injection. However, when injected, a small amount of toxin can locally target the specific movements of the muscles that cause dynamic wrinkles. These dynamic wrinkles can later form static, or permanent, wrinkles. Botox can also help reduce the frequency of migraines, treat excessive sweating, and may aid other chronic pain conditions.
Dermal fillers—most commonly hyaluronic acid fillers—aim to restore volume lost in the face due to aging. Fillers can also enhance facial features for general aesthetic purposes, or to address congenital deformities or scarring. Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body that is also exceptionally hydrating to the skin. It is also dissolvable with an agent known as hyaluronidase which makes it a safe option for most patients.
Semi-permanent fillers are not dissolvable, but they have biostimulatory properties which makes them ideal for certain treatments. For situations where hyaluronic acid fillers would not be adequate or the treatment area is too large, semi-permanent fillers such as Radiesse and Sculptra are good options.

A non-surgical alternative to the popular Brazilian butt lift surgery, this makes the procedure accessible for people without enough body fat for transfer or for those who do not want surgery. Botox results last an average of three months. Hyaluronic acid fillers—depending on the specific filler and treatment area—average around a year. Semi-permanent fillers last about two years. However, it is important to note that this will vary widely between people, the product used, and the area treated. For example, hyaluronic acid filler lasts much longer in the nose than it does the lips.
