Usually about 6 to 18 months, depending on the filler and the area. The chin and cheeks tend to hold longer than the lips, and many patients plan a small top-up when they notice the change fading.
They overlap but are not the same. A liquid facelift uses filler mainly to lift and refill an aging face. Balancing uses filler to improve proportion between features, such as chin to nose or cheeks to jaw, at any adult age.
Often, yes. Adding a little projection to the chin can make the nose look smaller from the side, and filler can smooth a small bump on the nose itself. Nose filler is off-label and needs extra care, which our non-surgical rhinoplasty page explains.
For most healthy adults it is a low-risk treatment when anatomy is respected. The FDA approves hyaluronic acid fillers for adults 22 years and older for set areas such as the lips or chin. Each product has its own list, and nose filler is off-label. Expect some swelling, bruising or tenderness. The rare serious risk is product entering a blood vessel, an emergency, which is one reason we favor gels that can be dissolved.
Most fillers contain lidocaine and numbing cream can be applied first, so most people feel pressure more than pain. Swelling or bruising can show for a few days, and most people return to work the same or next day.

According to the FDA, dermal fillers are approved for adults 22 years and older. Each product is approved for specific uses, for example the lips or chin, or lines around the mouth. Using a filler outside its approved uses, such as in the nose, is off-label. Your nurse will tell you when that applies. The FDA’s dermal fillers page explains approved uses and risks, and its list of approved dermal fillers names each product.
That difference is why our balancing plans lean on hyaluronic acid gels. If a result is not what you wanted, or a complication occurs, the gel can be broken down rather than waited out.
Rarely, filler can block a blood vessel, which can harm the skin and, very rarely, eyesight. It needs treatment right away, usually by dissolving the filler. Infection and late lumps or swelling can also happen.
