Daxxify vs. Botox: Reviews, Results, and Which Lasts Longer

Table Of Contents

Daxxify may last up to six months for some patients, while Botox commonly lasts three to four months. Patient reviews are less predictable, with some reporting noticeably longer Daxxify results and others seeing little difference. The better choice depends on your treatment area, muscle strength, past results, budget, and preferred maintenance schedule.

Daxxify vs. Botox Reviews: What Patients Say

Patient reviews do not point to one universal winner. Botox receives support for its familiar results and predictable maintenance cycle, while Daxxify appeals to patients who want a faster onset or fewer appointments.

The biggest disagreement involves duration. In one public review, a patient liked how quickly Daxxify began working but noticed substantial forehead movement returning by the third month. Another patient discussing masseter treatment reported that Daxxify lasted longer than Botox for them, although the result still fell short of six months.

Review ThemeWhat Patients Report
OnsetSome notice Daxxify working sooner than their previous Botox treatment.
DurationSome get longer results with Daxxify, while others see little difference.
FamiliarityReturning Botox patients often value knowing how their face responds to it.
CostDaxxify can cost more per visit because its product-specific unit count differs.
MaintenanceLonger Daxxify results may reduce the number of appointments needed each year.
ComfortExperiences vary based on the area, individual sensitivity, and injector technique.

Reviews can show what another patient experienced, but they cannot predict your result. The treatment area, dose, placement, muscle activity, and prior response can all change how quickly a product begins working and how long it lasts.

Daxxify vs. Botox Comparison

Daxxify and Botox both reduce muscle activity that creates expression lines. Their formulations, FDA-approved cosmetic uses, recommended glabellar doses, and expected duration differ.

The FDA-approved Daxxify dose for glabellar lines is 40 units, while the labeled Botox Cosmetic dose for the same area is 20 units. These numbers cannot be compared directly because botulinum toxin units are specific to each product.

Botox Cosmetic has FDA approval for several cosmetic treatment areas. Daxxify’s current cosmetic approval covers moderate to severe frown lines between the eyebrows, although providers may discuss off-label uses after a medical assessment.

Which Lasts Longer?

Daxxify has the longer potential duration in this comparison. Its glabellar-line trials followed patients for at least 24 weeks, and the manufacturer reports that more than half still had no or minor frown lines at six months. Individual results may be shorter or longer.

Botox Cosmetic commonly lasts three to four months. In its glabellar-line studies, improvement was measured for up to 120 days, although the number of patients maintaining the strongest response decreased over time.

Why duration varies

Patients with stronger muscles may regain movement sooner than those with lighter activity. Treatment area, dose, placement, metabolism, and prior response also affect the maintenance window.

The product may still be working when some movement returns. Wrinkle relaxers fade gradually, so early movement does not always mean the result has completely disappeared.

What a longer result changes

A six-month result could reduce maintenance from three or four yearly appointments to about two. This may appeal to patients who have already tried wrinkle relaxers and know they like the effect.

A longer duration can also be a drawback when a patient is unsure about the product, placement, or amount of movement they want to keep. First-time patients may prefer the shorter Botox maintenance cycle while learning how their facial muscles respond.

Cost and Value

InjectCo lists both Botox and Daxxify at $12 per unit. The total price depends on the product-specific units, areas treated, and plan recommended during the consultation

For FDA-approved treatment of frown lines, the labeled doses provide a simple cost example:

ProductLabeled Glabellar DoseExample at $12 Per Unit
Botox Cosmetic20 units$240
Daxxify40 units$480

These figures apply only to the labeled glabellar doses and current listed rate. Treating the forehead, crow’s feet, or another area changes the unit count and total price.

Daxxify may cost more at one appointment, but a longer result could reduce the number of visits. That value depends on how long it lasts for you. A patient whose Daxxify result fades in three months may view the cost differently from someone who maintains the result for six months.

What Daxxify and Botox Results Look Like

Both products can soften lines caused by repeated muscle movement. The result should still reflect the patient’s starting anatomy, treatment area, and preferred level of expression.

Before-and-after photos may show:

  • Softer frown lines between the eyebrows
  • Less creasing during facial movement
  • Fewer lines visible while the face is at rest
  • A more relaxed appearance without removing all expression

Photos should be compared at the same facial expression, angle, lighting, and point in the treatment timeline. A Daxxify photo taken at two weeks cannot fairly be compared with a Botox photo taken after the product has begun wearing off.

Neither product improves every type of wrinkle. Lines caused mainly by volume loss, sun damage, or skin texture may need another treatment.

Which Is Right for You?

The better option depends on your treatment experience and what matters most for your maintenance plan. Duration is important, but it should not outweigh facial anatomy, approved treatment areas, product history, and comfort with a longer-lasting result.

Botox may fit you if

Botox may be a good starting point if you are new to wrinkle relaxers or want treatment in an FDA-approved cosmetic area beyond the frown lines. Its three-to-four-month duration gives your injector a clear chance to see how your muscles respond before planning future visits.

It may also suit patients who already get consistent results and do not mind returning several times a year.

Daxxify may fit you if

Daxxify may appeal to patients who already know they like neuromodulator treatment and want to ask about a longer maintenance window. It can also fit patients who prioritize frown-line treatment and prefer a peptide-stabilized formulation.

Choosing Daxxify should include a clear discussion about the possibility that it may last longer. Adjusting an unwanted result is harder when the product remains active for several months.

You may need to postpone treatment

Treatment may need to wait if you have an infection at the planned injection site, a known allergy to a botulinum toxin product, certain neuromuscular conditions, or a prior serious reaction. Your provider should also review pregnancy, breastfeeding, medications, and other health concerns before treatment.

Seek immediate medical care for difficulty swallowing, speaking, or breathing after treatment. Both products carry warnings that toxin effects may spread beyond the injection area.

What to Expect at InjectCo

Frequently Asked Questions

What do reviews say about Daxxify vs. Botox?

Reviews show mixed experiences. Some patients report that Daxxify works sooner or lasts longer, while others say its duration is similar to Botox. Botox receives support from patients who value a familiar product and predictable maintenance schedule.

Does Daxxify last longer than Botox?

Daxxify may last up to six months for some patients. Botox commonly lasts three to four months. The actual duration depends on muscle strength, treatment area, dose, placement, and individual response.

How much does Daxxify cost compared with Botox?

InjectCo lists both products at $12 per unit. Daxxify and Botox use different unit measurements, so the final costs should be compared by the complete treatment plan rather than the per-unit rate alone.

How many units of Daxxify equal Botox?

There is no approved conversion ratio. Daxxify and Botox units are product-specific and cannot be compared or converted directly. The labeled frown-line doses are 40 Daxxify units and 20 Botox units.

Which works faster, Daxxify or Botox?

Daxxify may begin showing changes as early as the next day and typically within two days for some patients. Botox commonly begins showing changes within several days. The full result for either product should not be judged immediately.

Is Daxxify worth choosing over Botox?

Daxxify may be worth considering if fewer maintenance visits are important and you have already responded well to wrinkle relaxers. Botox may offer better value for first-time patients or those who prefer a shorter commitment. Your actual duration determines the value more than the product’s maximum reported timeline.

Compare Daxxify and Botox at InjectCo

Daxxify offers the possibility of faster onset and longer frown-line results, but patient reviews show that six months is not guaranteed. Botox has a shorter average maintenance window, broader FDA-approved cosmetic uses, and a long treatment history.

The choice should come from your facial movement, prior results, treatment areas, and preferred appointment schedule. An InjectCo nurse can explain what each product may realistically offer, compare the unit plan and cost, and help you choose without asking you to select a brand on your own.

She believes in a “lead to serve” mentality, hoping to create a more personal connection with both her patients and team alike. Kiara curated a team of 13 professionals across eight clinics, six of which are in DFW, one in Houston, and one in Austin.
Kiara loves nothing more than creating a collaborating, educational approach with her team, and thrives on personal and professional growth opportunities. She hopes that her patients feel heard and encouraged at every InjectCo visit and that they are truly excited about their personalized and well-designed aesthetic treatment plan. This love for education and safety in the industry led her to later found Texas Academy of Medical Aesthetics, an accredited training program that specializes in a 100+ hour aesthetic injector internship where students are able to train and shadow at all eight of InjectCo’s clinics.

Kiara’s patients recognize her and the entire InjectCo team as highly skilled and extremely thorough clinicians. She hopes to continue being a knowledgeable and approachable resource for clinical injectors across the country who are hoping to grow and scale their aesthetic business.
