GlansGirth Aftercare: What To Do in the First 48 Hours for the Best Results

Table Of Contents

The first 48 hours after your GlansGirth penile girth enhancement matter more than most patients realize. This is the window when the filler begins to settle, swelling starts to change, and your body begins adjusting to the treatment.

The good news is that aftercare is not complicated. You just need to be careful, consistent, and intentional for a short period of time.

What you do, and what you avoid, during these first two days can affect how evenly the filler settles, how quickly swelling improves, and how comfortable your recovery feels. That is why we do not want patients leaving with vague instructions and guessing at home.

At InjectCo, we perform GlansGirth across our nine Texas locations, and most of the aftercare questions we hear come up during this first 48-hour window. This guide walks you through what is normal, what to avoid, and when to reach out if something does not feel right.

What Penile Filler Aftercare Actually Involves

Penile filler aftercare is mostly about protecting the area while the hyaluronic acid filler starts to integrate with the surrounding tissue.

For the first 48 hours, that usually means avoiding sexual activity, keeping the area clean and dry, limiting strenuous activity, and watching for normal swelling versus signs that need attention.

This part is simple, but it matters.

Hyaluronic acid, or HA, naturally attracts and holds water. In the first 24 hours after treatment, the filler can draw in moisture, which may make the area feel fuller, firmer, or slightly swollen. That is expected. It does not mean something is wrong.

What matters is giving the filler time to settle without pressure, friction, heat, or unnecessary movement disrupting the result. A little patience during this short recovery window can make a real difference in how smooth and even your final outcome looks.

For a deeper look at why HA is commonly used for this treatment, you can read our guide on hyaluronic acid penile filler.

The First 4 Hours After Your GlansGirth Procedure

Right after your appointment, there is not much you need to do. In fact, the best thing you can do is keep things simple and leave the area alone.

The treated area may feel firm, and it may look slightly larger than what your final result will be. That is normal. At this stage, you are seeing both the filler and some early swelling, so do not judge your result too soon.

For the first four hours, focus on the basics:

  1. Keep the area clean and dry: Avoid unnecessary moisture, sweating, or irritation around the treatment area.
  2. Wear loose clothing and underwear: Tight fabric can create pressure or friction while the filler is still settling.
  3. Do not touch, press, or massage the area: Unless your injector gives you specific instructions, leave the filler alone.
  4. Avoid sexual stimulation: This includes manual contact, arousal, masturbation, or any activity that creates friction or pressure.
  5. Skip exercise and strenuous activity: Give your body time to start calming down before you return to your normal routine.
  6. Stay hydrated: Drinking water supports normal tissue recovery and helps your body move through the early healing process.

We recently saw a patient in his early 40s from Fort Worth who drove himself home after treatment. He said the most surprising part was how normal he felt afterward. No major discomfort, just some firmness he had not expected.

That is very common. What we tell patients is simple: the first 4 hours are usually the easiest part. You do not need to do much. You just need to avoid interfering with the area while the filler begins to settle.

Mild sensitivity, firmness, or a feeling of pressure can be normal. Sharp pain, spreading redness, or warmth that moves beyond the immediate treatment area is different and should be reported right away. If that happens, contact your InjectCo nurse using the information provided in your discharge paperwork.

Hours 4 to 24: Restrictions, Swelling, and What Is Normal

This is usually when patients notice the most change. Swelling often peaks somewhere between 6 and 12 hours after the procedure, and it can look or feel more noticeable than you expected.

That does not mean your final result will look that way.

What Swelling Can Look Like

You may notice temporary firmness, mild unevenness, or slight changes in skin color around the injection sites. These can happen because of the filler itself and the tiny injection points created during treatment.

Mild swelling and bruising are among the most common side effects after HA filler procedures, and they usually improve on their own within a few days. So if things look fuller, firmer, or a little uneven at hour 8, try not to panic. That is still very early.

The result you see during the first day is not your settled result. For most patients, things begin looking more accurate between day 3 and day 7 as swelling goes down and the filler settles more evenly.

Activity Level During This Window

Light desk work, slow walking, and normal daily movement are usually fine. What you want to avoid is anything that increases blood flow too much, causes sweating, or puts pressure on the treatment area.

For the first 24 hours, avoid:

  • Heavy lifting or gym workouts
  • Running or cycling
  • Long periods of sitting in a car or plane
  • Any sexual activity, including masturbation

Sexual activity is usually the question patients ask first, and the answer is honest: even gentle contact during the first 24 hours can create friction on filler that has not had time to integrate yet.

It is a short wait, but it matters. Giving the filler a calm first day helps protect the result you just invested in.For a broader look at what is normal after the first 48 hours, our penile filler side effects guide explains the full post-procedure timeline.

The Second 24 Hours: Activity, Hygiene, and Comfort

The second day is usually easier than the first. By this point, swelling may start to calm down, firmness often begins to soften, and the filler may feel a little more natural as it settles into the tissue.

You still want to be careful, though. The first 48 hours are about giving the filler time to settle without friction, heat, pressure, or unnecessary irritation.

Showering and Hygiene

After the first 24 hours, a gentle, lukewarm shower is usually fine. Avoid hot water directly on the treated area until you are past the full 48-hour window. Heat can increase blood flow, which may make swelling more noticeable while the area is still healing.

Use a gentle, unscented soap if needed, and do not scrub the area. Let the water run over the skin, clean gently, and pat dry with a clean towel instead of rubbing.

Resuming Light Activity

Light activity is usually okay during the second 24 hours. Most patients can return to desk work, gentle walking, and regular errands without much concern.

You should still avoid high-intensity exercise, contact sports, cycling, and heavy lifting until after the 48-hour mark, or longer if swelling has not fully settled. The goal is to avoid anything that creates pressure, friction, or too much movement in the treatment area.

Sexual activity should also wait until the full 48 hours have passed. This includes intercourse, masturbation, and any direct stimulation. It may feel like a short restriction, but it is one of the most important parts of aftercare. Early friction can disrupt filler while it is still settling, and waiting helps protect the result. If you want to check in with your provider, book a follow-up, or ask a question after treatment, our InjectCo The Woodlands med spa team and all InjectCo locations are available by phone or virtual consultation.

What to Avoid Completely in the First 48 Hours

This list applies from the moment you leave your appointment until 48 hours have passed. No exceptions based on how you feel. The filler settles on a biological timeline, not on how comfortable you are.

AvoidWhy It Matters
Sexual activity (any kind)Mechanical friction disrupts filler integration in the critical settling window
Hot tubs, saunas, or steam roomsHeat and moisture increase swelling and infection risk at injection sites
Tight-fitting underwear or restrictive clothingPressure on the treated area can distort filler placement
Alcohol consumptionIncreases bruising and swelling by dilating blood vessels
Blood-thinning medications (unless prescribed)Increases bruising risk; always confirm with your provider
Strenuous exerciseElevated heart rate increases tissue swelling and disrupts healing
Touching, squeezing, or massaging the areaDisplaces filler before integration is complete
Direct water pressure (shower heads aimed directly)Too much mechanical pressure on fresh injection sites

Patients who are on prescribed blood thinners should confirm their protocol with both their prescribing physician and their InjectCo provider before treatment, not after. This is covered in your pre-treatment consultation.

What to Expect at InjectCo After Your GlansGirth Treatment

Before you leave your GlansGirth appointment, your InjectCo provider will give you written aftercare instructions. This guide is meant to support those instructions, not replace them.

Our dual-zone GlansGirth technique is designed for precise filler placement across both the shaft and the glans. Even with a careful injection approach, the aftercare rule for the first 48 hours stays simple: leave the area alone, keep it clean, and let the filler settle.

InjectCo is a 100% nurse-led clinic, so you are not left guessing after treatment. If something does not feel right, or if swelling looks different from what you expected, you can contact your location directly by phone or text during business hours. It is always better to ask early than to sit at home worrying.

Patients traveling from outside Texas for treatment, including those visiting InjectCo Fort Worth or the Plano GlansGirth program, should plan to stay in the area for at least the first 24 hours before traveling home. This gives you time to rest, monitor swelling, and reach your provider easily if you have questions. For what happens after the first 48 hours, including touch-up timing and how lifestyle factors can affect how long results last, our GlansGirth long-term maintenance guide walks through the next stage of care.

Who This Aftercare Protocol Applies To

This 48-hour aftercare protocol is written for patients who received GlansGirth hyaluronic acid filler at InjectCo. It may also be helpful for patients who received HA-based penile girth enhancement in another clinical setting, but your provider’s specific instructions should always come first.

This guide does not apply if you had:

  • Surgical penile enhancement: Surgery has a different recovery process and requires separate post-operative instructions.
  • Non-HA fillers such as PMMA or Sculptra: These materials work differently in the body and may require different aftercare.
  • P-Shot or PRP injections: PRP-based treatments have their own recovery timeline and care instructions.

If you are not sure whether this guide applies to your treatment, contact your InjectCo provider before making assumptions. For more information on who may be a good candidate for GlansGirth, including medical contraindications and candidacy criteria, visit our GlansGirth service page.

Frequently Asked Questions

Most swelling resolves within 3 to 7 days. The first 24 to 48 hours show the most pronounced swelling. By day 4 or 5, most patients see a clearer picture of their settled results. Significant swelling that worsens after 48 hours, or is accompanied by fever or spreading redness, should be reported to your provider immediately.

Yes, but wait until 24 hours after your procedure. Use lukewarm water, not hot. Avoid direct water pressure on the treated area. Use unscented soap only. Hot showers, baths, hot tubs, and saunas should be avoided for the full 48-hour window.

Wait a minimum of 48 hours. This is a firm recommendation, not a suggestion. Sexual activity before the 48-hour mark creates mechanical friction on filler that has not fully integrated into surrounding tissue. Rushing this window is one of the most common preventable causes of suboptimal results. Most providers recommend waiting 5 to 7 days to be fully safe.

Yes. Firmness immediately after treatment is expected and temporary. Hyaluronic acid filler starts in a gel state and softens as it integrates into tissue and attracts water. The firmness at hour 4 or 8 is not the final result. Most patients report a more natural feel by day 3 to 5.

Light walking and gentle movement are fine from 24 hours onward. Heavy lifting, running, cycling, and high-intensity exercise should be avoided for the full 48-hour window, and ideally until any swelling has resolved. Elevated heart rate increases blood flow to the treated area and can worsen swelling during early recovery.

Normal healing: mild swelling, firmness, slight bruising at injection sites, minor sensitivity. These resolve within 3 to 7 days. Signs to report immediately: spreading redness, warmth extending well beyond the injection zone, increasing pain after the first 24 hours, fever, or any visible lump that is hard, painful, and growing. Our providers are available by phone during business hours. Never wait and hope.

After 48 hours, the most critical window closes. From day 2 to day 7, swelling continues to resolve and results become clearer. By day 7 to 10, the majority of patients see their settled result. Full filler integration and final aesthetic result stabilize around the 3-week mark. For the complete long-term picture, see our GlansGirth maintenance and touch-up guide.

The first 48 hours after GlansGirth are short, manageable, and important. You do not need to overthink recovery, but you do need to follow the instructions, avoid unnecessary friction or pressure, and give the filler time to settle properly.

A little patience during this window helps protect your result.
